Doofus Of The Day #281

Today's doofus is an Italian man, who set a new record for the number of driving offenses committed in the shortest time in Switzerland.

First the 47-year-old pulsed past police doing 100mph in a 60mph zone.

Then he broke three more highway rules by driving too close to cars, too close to the kerb and weaving across the white dividing line in the road.

Offences five, six and seven involved failing to stop for the police sirens, at a road block and at a set of red lights.

Nipping on to a motorway at St. Gallen he drove at 80mph in a 50-zone where construction was underway - another three rules busted because of speed, endangerment to life and reckless driving - and clocked up an 11th offence by driving on the hard shoulder.

When he was finally stopped in a roadblock he was also booked for driving under the influence of drugs, failing to drive with due care and attention, driving a car with no MOT [i.e. no current registration] and using a mobile telephone at the wheel.

"This character will be getting his driving licence back around the time Haley's Comet makes its next appearance," said a St. Gallen police spokesman.

That would be in mid-2061. Yep - I'd say that'll give him enough time to sober up!

That sounds like that scene from the movie, "Liar, Liar" where Jim Carrey's character gets pulled over.
