IED in Khost, Afghanistan

This video clip shows an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) being detonated by an EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team in the city of Khost, Afghanistan. I'm putting it up here for the benefit of those who don't realize the dangers our troops face every time they go out on patrol in that war-torn land. This is a particularly big and dangerous IED, easily capable of destroying almost any vehicle in the US inventory. Good thing it was discovered before it could be used!

LANGUAGE ALERT: The soldiers in the vehicle from which the explosion was filmed utter a few (less than polite) remarks when it goes off.

I'm glad everyone walked away from that one . . . Say a prayer for those who must go through this every day.

All I can say is "Thank You" to all those who willingly go inot harms way, because they're the reason this stuff happens in Afghanistan and not Alabama...

My son is there now. He is a combat medic.

He's not been there long, and already endured some motar attacks. He said the locals are ingenious in the way they plant these IED's.

It's his first tour. They start "backpacking" in a week or two from a FOB.
