"Raiders of the Lost Archives"

That's the title of a video clip I found on YouTube. It compares the opening scenes of the film 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' (first in the Indiana Jones movie franchise, directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by George Lucas) with scenes from 30 adventure movies made between 1919 and 1973. The influence of earlier movies and 'Saturday matinée serials' was acknowledged during 'Raider's' development, so it's fascinating to see them side-by-side like this.

It must have been a real labor of love to put this comparison together. I wonder how many hours of movie-viewing it took to to identify all the films concerned, copy the relevant scenes, then edit them together with the opening sequences of 'Raiders'?

Very cool. I remember, when Raiders first came out, there was a "Making of..." show that came on TV and it showed some of these comparisons and inspirations.
