Around The Blogs 2014-06-15

Here's the rest of the 'Around The Blogs' post I began last night.

At PJ Media, David Solway asks "Is America on the brink of economic and social collapse?"  All I can say is, if the current Administration continues on its present reckless, lawless and incontinent course, we may well be . . .

CenTexTim brings us "The Most Important Taco Of The Day".  I felt my arteries harden as I looked at it!

He also mentions the story I also reported a few days ago, about Bill Watterson contributing to another cartoon strip, and in the process links to a short story on Reddit titled 'In the final minutes of his life, Calvin has one last talk with Hobbes'.  It's a tear-jerker, but rather well done.  I enjoyed it.

Firehand illustrates the ultimate accessory for the Toyota Prius.  Click the picture at the link for a larger view.  Facepalm optional.

In her latest weekly column at Mad Genius Club, Kate Paulk links to a very funny article titled '20 Actual Quotes From English Exam Essays'.  My favorite:

"The hailstones leaped from the pavement, just like maggots when you fry them in hot grease."

Say what???

# # #

Mike Miles (site frequently NSFW) provides an interesting series of graphics depicting 'Rhetological Fallacies'.  Useful stuff for those who get into a lot of arguments, both to point out their errors to your opponents, and to avoid making the same mistakes yourself!

# # #

The Outrider shows what 'making it' in the USA is all about.

# # #

MSgt B. runs out of middle fingers, and explains what really happens if you shoot for the moon - and miss.

# # #

The Lonely Libertarian allows Schrodinger's Cat to have her say.

(The fact that our cat chose the moment I started to type the above sentence to jump into my lap and disrupt my train of thought was entirely serendipitous . . . )

On a more sober note, Rev. Donald Sensing links to a very interesting article titled 'Sexual Immorality and Five Other Reasons People Reject Christianity'.  It's a good article, but I think it doesn't sufficiently emphasize one of the most important reasons of all:  that most Christians (sadly including myself) generally don't set a sufficiently Christian example of how to live.  If we 'walked the walk', I think we'd be a lot more convincing when we 'talked the talk' . . .

# # #

Finally, Rev. Paul made me smile with two articles:  'The Wisdom Of Phyllis Diller' and 'The Biblical Farside'.  I hadn't come across the latter before.  Here's one that I particularly liked.

There are many more at the link.  Enjoy!

That's all for this two-day bumper edition of 'Around The Blogs'.  More soon!

Man, that taco looks awesome! I'd sandwich that with a real flour tortilla, 'cause a taco with it is just plain wrong, lol.

Another round of good ones, thanks!

That Prius accessory is particularly lame, given that connecting a suitable inverter to the HV bus will give plenty of AC power, with better efficiency. I've heard of people rigging Prii as household backup generators, with good results.
The real ultimate Prius accessory is a pop-up plasma cannon, to take advantage of all that electricity that's available. Alas, I've never gotten around to building one.

Oops! Thanks for the heads-up. Fixed it.

Dammit, I just HAD to read that Calvin & Hobbes link. Now my eyes are sweating because of the Arizona heat. Yeah, that's it...
