Doofus Of The Day #807

Fireworks are traditional during New Year celebrations, so it's fitting that our first Doofus Award of 2015 involves them (sort of).  The winner, an Australian man, tried to blow up an ATM in Darwin using some sort of explosive device.  Surveillance video shows what happened next.  (There's no sound, so don't adjust your volume.)

Methinks he should have used a longer fuse . . .

Wow. THAT close to the first Darwin Award of the year taking place in Darwin, Australia.

A longer fuse ... and perhaps a few more brain cells (assuming he has any to begin with).

Blew him right out of his jandals.

You'd think a ratbag clever enough to cover his face would be able to put two and two together and realise that a sheet of flame probably wouldn't do the money much good.

He certainly qualifies for honorable mention in the category!

He's lucky that most of the force was absorbed by the machine. Fair bit of it too, judging by the damage.

Hmm, left his hat and footgear at the scene. I wonder why he was in such a hurry to get the face mask off?

"Ja, ja, you see that? You see that? That's what I've been telling you. This is the fast fuse."

This is a pretty common technique in Europe according to the interwebs.

You seal the cracks with duct tape, fill the atm with propane, ignite, and viola, it blows open.

Apparently it doesn't usually hurt the cash.

'Course, this guy is a great big bucket of fail.
