Manly movie geeks can start rejoicing

The original 'Highlander' movie was kitchy and clunky, but it became a cult hit with a global following.

Queen's soundtrack became as iconic as the movie.

Now comes the welcome news that the movie's been remastered in 4K.

The Edinburgh International Film Festival and Studiocanal have partnered to screen a newly restored 4K version of Russell Mulcahy’s “Highlander” at the upcoming 70th edition of the fest.

The special screening will take place on June 18 in the Scottish city to mark the 30th anniversary of the 1980s action-fantasy cult classic.

. . .

Studiocanal will release the restored version of the film on DVD and Blu-Ray on July 11th.

There's more at the link.

Here's the trailer for the restored version.

I guess that one goes on my 'Must Buy' list.

Two of the best movie soundtracks were from Queen. Highlander and the amazing Flash Gordon.

I recently got the DVD for a few dukats on Amazon. The quality was better than the old VHS tapes I've had, but you could definitely tell it needed a good remastering. I'll have to watch out for this version.

*adds to wish list* Huh? Um, I watched it for the landscapes. Sean Connery? No, the landscapes, the landscapes. Really. And the music, yeah.
