The specific example that sprang to mind when reading the article was the LAPD officer who took an AP round to the femur during the 1997 Hollywood Bank Heist. Given how bad the bone damage was I'm pretty sure he walks with a cane to this day.

Other examples are people who have pins due to older injuries of various kinds.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6244999628674918029.post-69367521154071371302017-06-28T18:21:46.654-05:002017-06-28T18:21:46.654-05:00This sounds very similar to what they used to put ...This sounds very similar to what they used to put my leg back together.
After a bike wreck in 2008, I had about a 1.5" gap between the bone ends of my right femur (the rest had gone through the flesh & been either broken off on impact with the truck or ground off when I hit the pavement--either way, it was gone). My surgeon, Dr. Marc Tressler (PBUH), used a mesh to hold a similar paste/putty. It worked OK, but didn't grow very quickly, and he went back in & added some marrow from my hip. It worked well, and the leg works still! Unsurprisingly, in X-rays it looks like my femur is stuck through a tennis ball. It has to be stronger there, I figure.
--Tennessee BuddAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6244999628674918029.post-26018248706590837182017-06-26T13:48:21.242-05:002017-06-26T13:48:21.242-05:00BMP products are pretty amazing.
