Tractor Oops!
Received via e-mail, origin unknown:
Tie-downs are your friend. So is rope. So are chains. Lots of all three! A lack of sudden stops or heavy braking helps, too . . .
It wasn't heavy braking, take a look at the front of the truck and back of the SUV in front of it. My first job in aviation was as apprentice (read slave) working on floatplanes in NW Ontario. We tied everything down and we put axes and other such items in first and buried them under bulkier items to make sure they stayed put.
As to the truck, that's a fibreglass cap. Chances are the back of cab is fine. Make a flat bed out of it if you can't find a replacement box, bolt on a new hood, grill and fenders and it'll be back on the road.
That F150 is totaled. The Massey will probably need little more than a coat of paint to be concourse ready again.
ReplyDeleteOY.

Brakes work.
ReplyDeletePity they never heard of chocks and tie down chains.
This is why physics is your friend, and why it should be a requirement to graduate high school.
Yep, physics was NOT his friend... And the tractor will buff right out. :-)

Ottawa, IL, eh? That's where my ex lived when she and I were initially dating back in the mid-90's. Cute little town.
ReplyDeleteOh, 'Deere'?
ReplyDelete(Yes, I know it's a Massey, but the pun's easy)
The Massey-Harris is fine.
ReplyDeleteA body in motion tends to stay in motion until it can do the most damage.
ReplyDeleteIt is true in this Case! (easy PUN #2)
