Orwell said it well
“N...Power for the pure power.

Orwell said it well

“Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal.

We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.”
― George Orwell, 1984Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05329176313885665469noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6244999628674918029.post-75878793382157775842022-12-05T17:50:20.029-06:002022-12-05T17:50:20.029-06:00Everyone needs to stop looking for logic in any of...Everyone needs to stop looking for logic in any of this... there is none to be had. Understand the agenda: total control, without exception or omission, of every aspect of our lives.
The path to such control is Dalrymplian (see his definition of political correctness), a death by a thousand cuts, composed of ever-so-subtle absurdities that gradually become de rigour... an accepted part of the mental landscape such that exception is not made for clear thought.
Once they have you believing absurdities, they can make you commit atrocities.
And the masses sleep-walk toward this, in large part owing to the incomprehensible journey that has made all this possible. Stringing together the constituent parts, noting the steps taken fifty years ago that laid the groundwork for some other more recent measure, keeping track of the progressions that allowed these things to be born, is a maddening game of searching for the important part within a huge mass of other, lesser parts, and knowing the difference when one is confronted by options.

We are lost. And the path to redemption is long and difficult and bloody.

Mike in CanadaBaileyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08091320609923721652noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6244999628674918029.post-65911917470663708822022-12-05T15:02:16.385-06:002022-12-05T15:02:16.385-06:00Ye Gods is a little too... mild...
