In my time in service I've found many officers to be clueless, full of talk about self-sacrifice but sitting comfortably in positions where they have absolutely no skin in the game. If the mess up, they resign but get a nice comfy directorship due to the old boys club.Abeliannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6244999628674918029.post-89621859821507988132016-10-17T16:50:45.400-05:002016-10-17T16:50:45.400-05:00Wow. Joe...Wow. A very interesting breadth of comments.

Joe Mama's reference to a "triage iist" is on target; government will support those people and those areas offering it the most value. Which means cities, especially the major ones. Before one blesses such "triage" however, one must ask how effective, and beneficial, it will be. "Triage" will be performed by government, and government-directed agents and I'm not aware of anything government has done that it has not FUBARed. So, urban population survival rate: <50%, and that's probably optimistic.

America, and most of the rest of thw world, has eveolved into a "convenience" state: our lives are conducted at the highest level of convenience we can reasonably attain. That convenience is achieved by renting services rather than performing them ourselves. Such rental tactics work just fine as long as there is a surplus of time, labor and specialized skills available to perform them. When the plumber cannot convenently obtain food at the supermarket and must spend 35-50% of his time trying to grow food to feed his family, he's not available to fix the doctor's plumbing so his toilet works. The doctor, in turn, sacrifices hours to fixing his plumbing instead of providing medical services. Ad infinitum across the entire economy (and, I'm not even conjecturing what practical value an attorney or academic might be able to bring to bear in such an economy).

Eventually, this is called "Welcome to Venezuela." Unfortunately, this is our destination. The best we can hope for is Trump can postpone the inevitable long enough for some of us to be better prepared for it (which assumes the forces of The Left do not devote their energies to crippling Trump and any attempt he makes to correct conditions, which is highly unlikely. Destroying things is what The Left does.)

If it's Hillary in November, we'll all be Living in Caracas within a year; if Donald, we may have a couple years. When you look at the backgrounds of the urban "elites", you see the professions that are entirely divorced from the consequences of their actions - lawyers, think tanks, government functionaries. You make a bad decision there, someone else takes the consequences.

In other words, the country is being run by people who are outside the feedback loop. It's no wonder that 80% of the electorate thinks the country is on the wrong track.Borepatchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05029434172945099693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6244999628674918029.post-410924398237650252016-10-17T10:56:12.503-05:002016-10-17T10:56:12.503-05:00I think the rural society promotes BOTH independen...I think the rural society promotes BOTH independence AND responsibility. It's up to you to get your stuff done, not some servant/service person.

Re the map Joe Mama references, while that may be correct as far as 'economies' of those locals, most of them do not actually produce foods, water, etc. that would keep people alive. While the government might try to triage those areas, without the rural areas providing foodstuffs, it would be for naught. I loathe that woman and not much I can do about it other than vote against her.

I do however feel it is only a matter of time and reaching THE tipping point. As long as there is an ever increasing dependency class and they vote for more dependency we will never turn this boat around. The iceberg is inches away. Oh and that dependency class? That isn't just poor inner city voters, that includes the crony corporations that get their dependency kickbacks and support the machine.

I don't fear for myself or my wife. Now, when I see yet another "expose" of either Trump or Clinton. Trumps supposed bimbo eruptions or another of Clinton's wikileak E-mail shockers, I turn it off or don't read it.

I am pretty much convinced that it DOES NOT MATTER who wins, we are on our way to Hell in a hand basket, the collapse is inevitable. Trump is complaining that the election is rigged. So what else is new? Corruption is everywhere at every level of government.

When the dollar collapses, there will be no place to run. I just hope you are far enough away from those big city hellholes to avoid the mobs of animals that will hit the streets when the free money and food stops.

A close friend, close to my age (77) told me he is not voting anywhere for anybody.
