If you've never been to one, and like old time engineering, I'd suggesting finding one nearby and going. <br /><br />Rollag is my favorite that I've been to. Not only threshing machines, but a saw mill, steam shovel, full size locomotive and several small ones for the kids, along with dozens of steam tractors as well as several fixed steam powered engines. They've also got a smithy, a printing press, food booths, and people walking around in period costume.
