What no one seems to remember is that it is summer in places like Australia, Chile, Argentina, and South Africa. There are also quite a few cases in equatorial climes. Shouldn't that give them some idea of what to expect in the coming months, as the weather warms?Sam Helmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08338733918345024252noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6244999628674918029.post-69028294284966799022020-03-05T11:09:35.120-06:002020-03-05T11:09:35.120-06:00I've been going to the John Hopkins site to ke...I've been going to the John Hopkins site to keep track of the death rate (3.4%), but up to now it's been mostly Chinese numbers and there is some question about how honest those number are.
Over the next couple of months we are going to be getting numbers from everywhere else so we will see...

Good luck everyone!Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05450082315014407506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6244999628674918029.post-26417578646562366242020-03-05T08:20:07.677-06:002020-03-05T08:20:07.677-06:00Not discounting the danger of the virus itself - d...Not discounting the danger of the virus itself - depending on who you read it's a severe flu or something worse - but the bigger danger is the social unrest.

If people will trample each other over a f*cking toaster on Black Friday, what will they do when the groceries run out?NITZAKHONhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04110716447757507226noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6244999628674918029.post-72821986270218747992020-03-05T06:43:58.392-06:002020-03-05T06:43:58.392-06:00On the CDC Testing Snafu, two good articles that m...On the CDC Testing Snafu, two good articles that match what I was noticing:

A Self-Inflicted Crisis
Overregulation has played a dangerous role in America’s coronavirus outbreak. - City Journal

The United States badly bungled coronavirus testing—but things may soon improve Science Mag

CDC a few days ago stopped updating how many tests they have done.Ray - SoCalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11293232996007277071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6244999628674918029.post-42567874669387243822020-03-05T06:38:53.151-06:002020-03-05T06:38:53.151-06:00Peter

S...Peter

Thanks for the great economic write up.

Something I am not understanding is how serious is the health hazard. Is it just a bad flu for 80% of people, or you will get permanent health damage to lungs and other internal organs. Death rate seems to be around 2%. Due to the CDC Testing Snafu on testing, CoronaVirus seems out of control in the US.

RayRay - SoCalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11293232996007277071noreply@blogger.com
