I'm sure we've all seen video of motor-racing pit crews changing tires, refueling cars, and so on. Their speed and dexterity are sometimes pretty amazing, as in this clip of a training session.
Unfortunately, not all pit crews are so conscientious . . .

Can we pray that it's a metaphor for The One's "First Hunnert Days"?
ReplyDeleteThere was no pit crew involved here, but likely only one young man with no understanding of force, torque, tensile strength, or g-force.
ReplyDeleteIn other words, he bolted on Da Shiny rims with Da Wrong Nuts and Dey's fell off.
He should have taken my class (g).
Ouch... I feel his pain... That's what torque wrenches are for :-)
ReplyDeleteI tried one time to explain on a car forum how to use a box-end wrench and a fish scale to torque a bolt. I think I would have been better off explaining it to my cat.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the pit crews that do it well are very impressive indeed.
