The wrong kind of hot water!

It seems that natural gas wells in Colorado have contaminated the drinking water in a local house - with highly unusual results!

Looking at the video, I can't help but wonder what would happen if a member of the household were to be barbecuing meat outside, fortified by several glasses of lemonade, or iced tea, or whatever, made with that tap water. All that gas has to go somewhere, surely? So, an unexpected attack of flatulence, in close proximity to the grill, might produce a barbecued backside instead of brats and burgers!

  1. Been there, done that!

The shallow wells at my grandmother's farm were subject to 'carbonation' with dissolved methane. Part of it would outgas and burn, but mostly it just made the water taste funny.
