When a bullet meets ballistic gelatin

Ballistic gelatin is a special gelatin compound that simulates muscle tissue. It's used to test the performance of defensive and hunting bullets.

This video shows in slow motion (2,907 frames per second) what happens when a bullet meets a block of ballistic gelatin.

Impressive!

  1. Did you see the gelatin being twisted by the bullet? Wow!

  2. Oh, the beauty of terminal ballistics! I agree, Wayne, the twist is gorgeous. Did you notice the perfect "mushroom" expansion? From what I can tell, it's some sort of spitzer rifle bullet, with no obvious cavity for expansion. Barnes is known for that sort of hunting round.
