The latest on the 'highly stung' bandit

I wrote last week about Ricky Dale Ford, who knocked over a beehive in his haste to escape the scene of his crime, and was found by police unconscious and foaming at the mouth after having been stung 50 to 100 times. Yesterday, I mentioned that he'd escaped from the county slammer (doubtless adding razor wire cuts to his stings) and was on the lam.

My correspondent in Arkansas, Dave S., sent me a link this afternoon to a report that he was back in custody once more.

46-year-old Ricky Dale Ford has turned himself in to Lee County Sheriff's Office officials after escaping from the Faulkner County Detention Center Sunday afternoon.

Maj. Andy Shock of the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office said Ford will be returned to the Faulkner County Detention Center this evening.

FCSO deputies and administrators have been in contact with Lee County authorities since Monday, Shock said, and have been working to contact any relatives or associates Ford may have had there.

"We were up there yesterday trying to cut off all resources and people available to him," Shock said. "He basically had nowhere to go, and so he turned himself in."

There's more at the link.

In a way it's a pity he was recaptured so soon. After his previous shenanigans, I was hoping he'd do something really, spectacularly injurious to himself, if given enough time!

  1. He needs to be transferred to a locale that has carnivorous fish. Bees are clearly not enough for him
