It's an original excuse, all right!
Imagine you're a boss, and you've heard all the old, tired excuses from employees who couldn't make it into work on time (or at all that day). You must get pretty tired of the 'same old, same old'.
A boss in Belgium heard one that I'm sure was new to him when an employee called to say that she couldn't come to work the next day "because she'd murdered somebody". Indeed she had . . . and the police duly locked her up.
I wonder how long it took her boss to recover from her excuse?

I saw a video of a reporter talking to the camera about a murder suspect on the loose, and the suspect himself came up and got his face on the TV.
