Thanks to reader C. le M., we have a series of photographs of vehicles that are overloaded to an almost impossible extent. There are too many to include them all in a single post, so I'll split them into five groups and put up one for each day this week.
Here are today's contenders.
Lawdog and I are used to encountering such monstrously overloaded vehicles on the roads of Africa, but most First World residents are appalled on seeing them. Nevertheless, loads like this are a daily fact of life in the Third World, and sometimes in poorer areas of the First and Second Worlds as well. Sure, there are traffic regulations against them, but a bribe tends to take care of such minor details . . .

ReplyDeleteIt happens here in the US. I recall seeing a 1/4ton pickup loaded with 2 tons of split firewood. IIRC, it rose twice as high as the pickup and the load bed was extended forward of the cab. Think of a cab-over rental truck with the top and sides removed.
