An acute failure of the victim selection process

One has to laugh at the stupidity of two 'yobs' (young thugs, hooligans) in England, who chose entirely the wrong targets for their aggression.

TWO drunken yobs tried to start a fight with three strangers - who turned out to be the military's most decorated hard men.

The thugs, who had a Staffordshire bull terrier with them, got a surprise comeuppance after hurling abuse at the smartly-suited trio in a street.

They had no idea their intended "victims" were a hero Royal Marine, an Army captain and a VC-winning SAS hero.

The louts pushed and shoved the three men, attempting to provoke them into a punch-up.

After ignoring polite advice to "walk away" they suddenly found themselves on their backs while their vicious-looking dog fled yelping.

There's more at the link.

I'd have loved to hear the whining and complaints uttered by the battered yobs as they staggered off . . .

  1. There are still some real men in the Empire (along with a disproportionate number of brutish louts).

  2. Will the soldiers be charged with assault? Sadly, not unprecedented in today's UK.

  3. I loved the article--but I felt strongly enough about the unnecessary negative portrayal of their Staffordshire Bull Terrier (who there was no reason to mention at all, less yet to describe it as "vicious-looking", before it ran off yelping) that I wrote a letter to their editor.

  4. Yeah, given that my entire experience of Staffies is lunkheaded love bugs who are excellent with children (and likely would flee from a sudden violent confrontation), that knotted my eyebrows a bit too.

  6. That they walked away is likely the conscious choice of those they attacked.
