Bugs and Sam #7

For the final instalment of our week-long look at Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam, I decided to be all contrary and leave out Yosemite Sam. It's not that I don't enjoy his fun and games - I do - but the anti-hero of this cartoon displays an entirely Sam-like pugnaciousness and aggression!

From 1953, here's Bugs Bunny in the fight of his life. Personally, I'd rate this among the top three Bugs Bunny cartoons of all time.

  1. Great final pick, Peter!

For me the best of these was always a toss up between this one and the Bugs and Daffy one of the Rabbit Season Duck Season fame.

  2. After Leon or Ed Selzer barged in one day and in his own silly voice (Daffy is a parody of either Selzer's or Schlesinger's voice and whomever it was wondered where they got that thilly voith..I'll have to dig out my Chuck Jones books) told Chuck and the rest, "Never do a cartoon on Bull Fighting, there is nothing Funny about Bull Fighting" and stormed back out, they looked at each other and said, "I guess we need to look at bull fighting and see what we been missing"
I have been bummed that they are not on tv hardly at all anymore. I should just get the collected works.
Been known to call people a maroon or an imBessle myself from time to time.

  3. Yep, that is one of, if not the best... Especially the Rube Goldberg finale!

  4. The left turn at Albuquerque always proved to be problematic!

  5. That was one of my favorites. I also liked the "Martian" ones.

  6. I had "OK, Toro, whenever you can spare the time" as the start-up sound of my office computer, at least until my boss heard it.

  7. Gee whiz :-) I think if I ever stop finding this one funny I'll know I've had enough.
