A rally car on snow tracks?

We've looked at Ken Block before, in two videos showcasing his 'Gymkhana' antics with fast cars. I've just come across another video, showing him driving a Subaru WRX STI rally car fitted with a Mattracks rubber track system.

I'd say that's probably the fastest tracked vehicle that I've ever seen driving on thick snow like that. However, on hard-packed snow or more conventional terrain, an M1 Abrams tank with the engine governor removed might give it a run for its money!

  1. Of course on more conventional terrain(like oh say, a road), those mattrack tracks tend to break pretty quickly.

  2. I agree... 70 mph+ for the M1 Abrams w/no governor. Just don't ask about how much fuel is consumed!

  3. Buddy, you said it. At those speeds in an M1 Abrams, I think it's measured in gallons per yard!

  4. Any surprise in snowmobiles that will go highway speeds?

  5. 0h yeah, Jim reminded me: that thing is not nearly as fast as a competition snowmobile, and they are tracked vehicles... think crotchrocket for snow.
