When avalanche control goes wrong!


I'm sure many readers are familiar with avalanche control techniques. One of the measures used is to fire explosive shells into snowbanks on mountain slopes, bringing down the snow in a controlled fashion rather than letting it build up into a dangerous accumulation that might precipitate a damaging avalanche.

However, it helps to position your avalanche control cannon a safe distance from the avalanche you're trying to start . . . as these Russian troops found out the hard way!
