A different kind of wakeboarding!

I was amazed to view the video clip below, because (not having been born in this country) I didn't know how cranberries were farmed. A quick trip to Wikipedia taught me that cranberry beds are flooded before harvesting, creating the conditions that made this video possible.

I presume no cranberries were harmed (or left unusable) during the making of this video . . .

  1. I'm from New Jersey. Lots of cranberries there.

There's an "Ocean Spray" cranberry commercial that show the same sort of flooded field with two guys in it.

  3. My main thought during the video was that Red Bull was going to pay Ocean Spray for the cranberries so they might as well put that in their drink.

When driving to my mom's house in central WI, I pass this nice big farm of cranberry bogs. I've never been lucky enough to go through during harvesting.

  4. I never would have thought of this, but a comparable winch for launching sailplanes is well-understood technology.

  6. Around here (MA, home of Ocean Spray) they're called BOGS. Cranberry BED is not inappropriate, but I've never heard anyone other than these guys refer to a cranberry FIELD.
