Rolling through the Bay - on toothpicks???

This video clip shows an amazingly detailed and complex model, containing about 100,000 toothpicks, that depicts many of the best-known scenes and features of San Francisco. The artist, Scott Weaver, walks us through his creation.

Talk about a magnificent obsession! Congratulations to Mr. Weaver, both for his artistry and his patience. I wonder whether any accidents forced the rebuilding of sections of his work from time to time?

  1. My daughter and I were in San Francisco last July. We stayed in Union Square and the weather was picture perfect. China town, Fisherman's warf and Alcatraz were great.

    But,

How come the artist didn't dedicate a few toothpicks to the massive number of beggars and bums who inhabit every street corner in the city?
