And so it's Christmas again.
Once again, some of us recall the reason for the season . . . our desperate need for a Savior, without whom we are truly lost.
Others deny the existence of a Savior, or of any divinity at all, but can still enjoy the more secular trappings of the season, and share with us a wish for peace and goodwill among all mankind.
I've written before about how Christmas became real for me. Ever since that violent, bloody night, it's never been about the commercial trappings of this time of the year, or even about the family gatherings. It's been about the 'little people', the forgotten ones, who are not forgotten by the One - and they do not forget Him. They know their need of His coming, and are profoundly grateful that He did.
My need of Him is just as great, for without Him, my sins would rightly condemn me. I'm more grateful than words can say for His mercy, and in this season of grace, I seek it anew. May we all do the same . . . and may He grant us that which we seek.
A blessed, happy and holy Christmas to each and every one of you, my friends.
Peter
And a very Merry Christmas to you, Peter. God bless.

ReplyDeleteBy the way: Mannheim recorded a Christmas album which included the "Lumen" Gregorian Chant theme from Candlemas; that is now used as a responsory for the Canticla of Zachary used as part of the exsequiium for a funeral Mass.
That guy knows his music!
Amen and a belated Merry Christmas
