Israel must be feeling justifiably paranoid right now . . .

I wrote in December about the grave risk of a new war breaking out in any of several parts of the world within the next few months to a year. One of the areas I singled out was the Middle East - and recent developments make it more and more likely that a spark is about to be set to the tinder there. Consider:

I'll be very surprised indeed if Israel's military preparedness is not being raised to a higher level, including the mobilization of critical personnel in the Reserves and urgent attention being given to getting all its planes, ships, tanks, artillery and other weapons to the highest possible state of preparedness for war. The signs are ominous. If you, like me, have religious faith of any kind, may I suggest that now would be a very good time to pray for peace - and for sanity among all the leaders involved?

  1. I believe Israel is on the verge of being overcome by options. Formerly, not so long ago, their decision seemed to be if and when to strike. Now, it seems a first strike is almost a certainty with time growing short, but with the added decision of in which direction.

  2. Israel has caused their own problems.

To put it in perspective, when was the last time the US military did a full military strike, blitzkrieg style, on mexico because a US citizen got killed or kidnapped by the cartels?

    Far too long ago?

Of course, regular readers here will already be familiar with my perspective on the War on Some Drugs.

  4. What we seem to be seeing is NATO working hard to turn more and more countries over to the Moslem Brotherhood. All using the USofA's credit card. The only thing I can see, since NATO failed to start a new cold war with the Russians, is the goal of creating a Moslem Caliphate and setting themselves up as the defenders of Christandom with the USofA's blood and credit. Our treasure is long gone. Sigh.
