Was the Obamacare decision a poison pill for the Administration?
I haven't had time to examine the SCOTUS ruling on Obamacare in any detail (I've been traveling, as you know), but Whitehouse12 has a very interesting perspective on it. If correct, it may be the silver lining in the cloud of the Supreme Court's approval of this disastrous legislation. Go read.
Now it's up to us to elect Representatives and Senators who'll overturn the whole damn thing . . .

ToeJam, I prefer to think of it as, "we" weren't so dumb, but that damned 'American idealism' was front & center back in 2008 - now that reality has smacked the majority upside the head, I'm praying that the next "minority" POTUS will be someone of the character of Allen West or Herman Cain ......................

I've said for years I want to vote for a black man for Prez, but I have'nt been able to convince Dr. Walter Williams or some others to go for it --- damn they're intelligent!!!

ReplyDeleteThere's a reason that our judges are highly educated: It takes a great deal of talent and knowledge to be able to twist the plain meaning of the constitution into such ridiculous shapes.
When the consequences of those political choices are unconstitutional law, it is very much the job of the court to uphold the supreme law of the land, the constitution.
The constitution is the very foundation of our law. Saying that a vote of congress has higher precedence than the constitution is a clear admission that the constitution is well and truly dead, a dried up piece of paper, a symbol of the former republic, a religious icon to be revered but not expected to actually do anything.
The biggest differences between the candidates isn't which one wipes his hiney with the constitution, it's which part the candidate uses for the wiping.
