Rev. Paul in Alaska, blogging at Way Up North, frequently shares funny stories and news articles with his readers. This morning he excelled himself.
First, he linked to an article about the perils of using a toilet aboard a small boat. Been there, done that . . . and I winced in sympathy, even as I laughed!
Next, he took us to the famous Unalaska Police blotter, which describes how a series of drunkards enlivened the night for at least one officer. Having had to deal with drunken fishermen (and others) on a few occasions, I can guess it must have been . . . interesting! You have to have encountered such situations to be able to visualize (and mentally verbalize) the exchanges. I wish someone had filmed it. It'd make 'Cops' for sure!
Finally, he linked to a YouTube video, which in turn linked to a news report about a gathering of fish eagles around (and in) a pickup truck that was parked with 'fish product' left in the load bed. Needless to say, to a bunch of hungry Alaskan eagles, fish - whether fresh or over-ripe - are like crack to an addict. The results can be seen below.
Thanks, Paul. Love those eagles fighting with and dive-bombing each other! You made my morning.
Peter
I'm glad you like it, Peter. The TV series "Northern Exposure", while not filmed in Alaska, certainly captured some of the quirky flavor - and I like to share that with readers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the links, too. :)
ROTF, yep toilets on small boats are literally 'hit and miss'... and hang on for dear life!
