Obamacare in a nutshell

An e-mail sent to a Fox News program sums up the Obamacare Web site debacle in a nutshell.  Bold, underlined text is my emphasis.

"Putting things in perspective: March 21st 2010 to October 1 2013 is 3 years, 6 months, 10 days.  December 7, 1941 to May 8, 1945 is 3 years, 5 months, 1 day.  What this means is that in the time we were attacked at Pearl Harbor to the day Germany surrendered is not enough time for this progressive federal government to build a working webpage.  Mobilization of millions, building tens of thousands of tanks,  planes, jeeps, subs, cruisers, destroyers, torpedoes, millions upon millions of guns, bombs, ammo, etc. Turning the tide in North Africa,  Invading Italy, D-Day,  Battle of the Bulge, Race to Berlin - all while we were also fighting the Japanese in the Pacific!!  And in that amount of time - this administration can't build a working webpage."

Word.

  1. I, also, saw that on Fox and had to laugh. A hat tip for someone other than Ocare! When you think about it, this is the dying breed that is deserving of gratitude and good care.

  2. I get the point, and agree that it's stupid the website doesn't work. But to be fair, the build up for WWII started well before we declared war (Sept. 16 1940 Selective Service, Lend-Lease), but the build up for the website started well after the bill was signed into law. The primary contractors weren't awarded the contracts until December 2011, and due to delays in the specifications for what the website should do/how it should work, the contractors didn't actually start on it until this Spring. Though, I guess those delays are the administration's fault. So counting only the contract award date it's more like 1 year and 11 months vs 4 years, 7 months, 23 days.

And yes, I know the point is it's ridiculous that the website sucks, but these specifics matter to me. :P

  3. Travis - yes, the website work started later, but that was because of purely political reasons with an incompetent WH, not technical reasons. And yes, Knudson, Kaiser, and the rest started getting the infrastructure laid down and ramped up in preparation, but it wasn't swinging into full motion until 07Dec41, and their foes were not spineless Republicans but rather more determined, well-armed, an in possession of a fair bit of territory that they were not entitled to.
Not a perfect analogy, but it still gets the point across.
I prefer pointing out the fact that the company that created the ObamaCare website spent ten years and two billion dollars building the Canadian gun registry, which was five times as long and about a thousand times more than the Canadian government had planned on spending. And after all was said and done, they scrapped it as worse than useless.
