A magnificent failure

Last year rally and stunt driver Guerlain Chicherit was the first person to back-flip a car unassisted.  He used a Mini tuned and specially set up by John Cooper Works.  Here's how it looked.

He's just tried - and spectacularly failed - to break the car long jump record.  His Mini touched the landing ramp nose-first and tumbled and rolled a long way, but amazingly he emerged with only bruises.  I guess they built a pretty strong protective framework into that car!

Glad he's OK - and I'm sure he'll try again soon.
