Your hotel: clean, comfortable rooms - and gunfire

Sometimes the quality of your fellow guests at a hotel leaves something to be desired, as this video clip demonstrates.  It's from security cameras at the Roosevelt Motor Inn in Philadelphia.

You can read more about the incident here, and see video of an earlier armed robbery at the same location.

Yet another good reason to be armed on your travels . . . and to choose a better sort of hotel!

  2. Why, they are good boys. They was just getting their lives together, going to school, wanted to be a rap musician.

  3. Wikipedia reports the demographics of Philadelphia as 43% black to 41% white, making it a majority-black city. How, exactly, are you going to find a "safe" hotel without having to be racist about it? "Oh, can you name me a few hotels in the 'safe' part of town, nudge-nudge wink-wink?"

  4. I think the video highlighted an important variation of the gangsta hold - the hold it sideways around the corner hold. While not effective for aimed fire it did work well as a fire suppression technique.

  5. Sherm - in this case the sideways round-the-corner technique was the right one. The other guy was set up, aiming at the corner with a two handed grip, and down low to present a smaller target. The attacker stuck his pistol around the corner and fired blindly, but without exposing himself, while the stationary defender shot the corner (either attempting to hit the shooting hand or general deterrent). Both did the "right" thing for the circumstance, lived to see another day.
