Two musical greats come together

Most people don't know that when Pink Floyd recorded their classic album 'Wish You Were Here', they incorporated Stephane Grapelli's jazz violin in the title song.  However, in the final mix it wasn't audible, so he wasn't credited.

Many years later, when the album was remastered, Grapelli's playing was highlighted once more.  Here's the restored version of the title song.

Progressive rock meets classic jazz.  Wonderful!

  1. Thanks for posting this. Grapelli's a longtime favorite whose work with Django is at the top of the list of my favorite period jazz. Fortunately he lived to a ripe old age and brought pleasure for many years.

  2. Stephane Grappelli, together with David Oistrach, stood head and shoulders above other violinists.
