A new wingsuit world record

A record number of wingsuit flyers formed up in the skies over California last month.  Discovery News reports:

The skydiving record for the most wingsuit divers in formation while in freefall was set October 17 at California's Perris Valley Airport.

The record-setters comprised a 61-strong, international team of wingsuiters who were dropped from three airplanes flying at 13,500 feet. Soon after, they formed a diamond shape and snared the record.

During the maneuver, the team glided horizontally for some 2 miles.

There's more at the link.

Here's how it went.  Watch the video in full-screen mode for best results.

Looks like they had a lot of fun doing it.  Congratulations to all concerned.
