Doofus Of The Day #885

Courtesy of a link provided by Australian reader Snoggeramus, today's award goes to a bungling crook in Perth.

A Perth man who lured a pizza delivery driver to a vacant house and robbed him has been sentenced to two years' jail after the driver recognised him as a regular customer and led police to his real address.

[Western Australia] court documents from Dylan Jonathon Steven Lovell's sentencing in February revealed the 29-year-old had planned to rob the delivery driver and use the money to buy cannabis.

After threatening the driver with a bread knife, Lovell stole $16 cash and a wallet from the delivery car before running away.

Supreme Court of WA Justice John Chaney described the man's actions as "very poorly thought out" in a manner that would "almost certainly" lead to him being caught.

There's more at the link.

Note to self:  do not try to rob people who already know you by sight.  It makes the cops' job too easy.

  2. I'm thinking Judge's Dilemma. Long sentence to protect Dufus from himself, or short sentence because of Duficious Mercy?

Before the proofing trolls hit, no "Duficious" is not a word. I made it up. My only difficulty was to use one "f" or two.
