This very young mtoto (baby elephant) can't figure out what its trunk is, or how to use it.
Note how close the elephants come to the observers in their motor vehicle, without being too upset by it. That's the difference between elephants in a big national park like Kruger, where these ones are, and those in the wild. Park elephants are used to cars and people; but I guarantee you, if that vehicle got that close to wild elephants, it and those inside would be flatter than a pancake before you could say "Eeek!"

I got the feeling that the elephants were annoyed and displeased by the presence of humans sitting in a car, but not agitated enough to "do something" about it. When they flap their ears like that, doesn't it mean "don't come any closer to me"?
ReplyDeleteAnd you can believe those tourists didn't BUDGE until those elephants were long gone.
ReplyDeleteThe little one was having a problem with his trunk... He kept trying to step on it!
ReplyDeleteWonder if the the little one sucked up a bee?
