Sheriff David Clarke lays it on the line

I referenced Sheriff David Clarke of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, this morning.  Now he's written an op-ed piece for The Hill that sets out in detail, and very bluntly, his views on Black Lives Matter.  Here are some excerpts, but you really need to read the whole thing.

This is a war, and Black Lives Matter is the enemy

Americans watching the news of the murders of police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, are observing a civil war unfold within our borders. A war between rule of law and anarchy-seeking hate.

The murders in Baton Rouge, and before them Dallas, were not acts of domestic terrorism but guerrilla urban warfare against the police - who represent law and order - against the Constitution, and against the American way. The police, the men and women whom I as the Sheriff of Milwaukee County ask to put their lives on the line, are on the front lines of this war.

It’s time to come to the aid of our police, our front-line soldiers, by calling this war, and not terrorism. Avoiding the truth through wordsmithing – the false narrative of the lone-wolf – is contemptible as more innocent officers perish while our politicians hem and haw.

We as a people need to declare that we stand with rule of law, and not with the false tales of the revolutionary Marxist forces, who most recently have rebranded themselves from Occupy Wall Street to Black Lives Matter.

. . .

We have several forces internal and external attacking our rule of law: ISIS, Black Lives Matter, Occupy Wall Street – just the most recent iterations of the elements who brand themselves as unique but seek the same revolutionary aim: take down the West, the philosophy of equality before the law, and replace it with their authority, their rules, their hate.

. . .

It’s time to reclaim our future and it begins by condemning Black Lives Matter, organizers and inspiration for hate, friend to enemies of law and order.

There's more at the link.  It's worth your time to read it all.

I should point out that Sheriff Clarke is a Democrat, not a Republican.  That confirms my long-held belief that the party is irrelevant;  it's the individual that counts.  I'd vote for a man like Sheriff Clarke regardless of his political party.  I can only add that I support and endorse his views on BLM.  Readers will note that he says much the same as I did last Thursday and this morning, only more bluntly.  He did the same in a stormy interview on CNN yesterday.

Perhaps I should take a leaf out of his book, and stop trying to be polite in the way I put things . . .

  2. There comes a time in any discourse where the participants each stop listening to the other. Blunt truth is the only remaining option.

"Polite" only works with people of good will. BLM & the SJW/Occupiers aren't in that camp. So speak the consequences, and damn the torpedoes.

  3. "That's a different conversation." Seriously? What a disingenuous little punk! He knew damn well that Sheriff Clarke was saying that Baton Rouge and Ferguson were connected! Hell, he *asked* the sheriff of he had *proof* about the connection between BLM and Baton Rouge! And at the end, saying "...stressful time for you." as if the sheriff were a crazy person, and Lemon was being magnanimous and kind by giving him an out so he could retain his dignity...ohhh, that was fricking disgusting! Someone ought to slap that jackass. Pardon my language.

  4. The Marxists and their Democrat stooges have been at war with America for a long time now. The first step in solving a problem is to admit that you have a problem. Step two is identifying the cause of the problem. The following steps are more complicated and messy.

  5. Wow someone let open the funny farm gates this week didn't they.

    1. Police Offices rottenly shake down people, its low level intimidation and extortion. You yourself Peter have talked about personnel experiences of it. Now we know statistically that black people suffer disproportionately from this.
    2. This leads to a culture of them and us. It is not then Policing by consent it is Policing by occupation and force. Over a long enough period (in the USA Probably at least the last 100yrs with escalation in the last 20yrs) people get to the point where they give up on Legal remedies. We have all scene the footage of policeman killing people and walking away untouched. The number of policeman prosecuted for extortion especially over traffic violations is so small as to be laughable. Just statistically its wrong let alone looking at the video evidence.
    3. This them and us culture then leads the Police to the point where every situation they approach they think the person is out to kill them, not that they are just some citizen out driving to the shops to get some milk, there a gang banger dealing drugs armed too the teeth every time. That means the Policeman mentally has his weapon drawn and is pulling the trigger even before he walks up to the car. You know as a trainer and user of firearms that is not a good mental position to be in, ready yes, prepared yes, but jacked up screaming at people not to move and then asking for there licence is not the act of a sane individual. This leads to the rule of law not being applied in Black Neighbor hoods as the US the Police give up on helping the THEM (the black community)because they are not worth helping, letting the Them neighbor hoods descend in to anarchy because the "majority good them" get no help from the Us the Police because they are just not worth the risk.
    4. You then state that peaceful demonstration and complaint to the authorities (which happen to be heavily on the side of the original perpetrators of the crime the police)should be met with armed deadly force and they deserved what they got being arrested, abused, teargassed and shot at because they had the audacity to complain NOTE not with any force.
    5. You then ramp up the hate speech on BOTH sides. You pump up the them and us, add in modern video footage that gives true meaning to evidence that used to be dismissed as black People just complaining (For example the offices who through a flash bang in to a babies cot and walked away innocent because there was no video footage), you add in Officers showing no regard for black on black crime, then it is a powder keg waiting to go off.

  9. I couldn't finish the video. Don Lemon was pissing me off too much. He's a typical liberal and his style is typical CNN - which is why I never watch CNN.

Multiple times, Lemon made the point that a discussion could not be had if both were talking at the same time. Yet he would consistently interrupt the Sheriff and never shut up long enough to allow him to answer a question or express a complete thought.

I know it's a sin to hate, but I can't help it. I hate the American press.

  10. In the Police War on Drugs they have entered their second decade of simply stealing all the cash they find and declare that is drug money and they almost never charge the person or persons that they stole the money from. The Wall Street Journal reported that as of this year more money had been stolen by the police and used on anything they wanted than was stolen by ALL the other criminals in America. [google: police confiscate money]

They seize legal firearms while searching for other things and then the owner has to go to court to get a judge to order the police to return the weapons and what exactly are you going to do when the police don't return them as ordered by the Court? Call the police? [google: police refuse to return weapons after court order]

As anonymous noted above, the police routinely get away with murdering unarmed people and the saddest ones are usually the mental ones that get killed because their parents made the tragic mistake of thinking the police would help subdue their sick child. [google: police kill mentally ill man]

The police actually suck when it comes to firearms qualifications. I am mindful of the man who committed a murder in the Empire State Building 3 years ago, went out on the sidewalk and when he saw police he shot himself. The police involved shot 9 other perfectly innocent civilians out on the sidewalk. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Empire_State_Building_shooting]

The police have invited a perfect storm of hatred for police on the part of those that they have been dealing with now for decades. They will not punish or police their own. In the rare event a cop is found unsatisfactory and dismissed he frequently turns up on some other police department rolls where he pretty much does there exactly what he did in his previous job. If they cannot act with propriety the least they could manage was to work to avoid the appearance of impropriety and that they have universally failed to do.

They stirred the pot pretty hard for a long time and it not us but them that invited violence since they have carefully eschewed or excluded every other way to get them to behave a law enforcement force and not a pack of heavily armed cannibals that prey on society at large and get away with it.
