You, your private space and time . . . and your cat
The author of Simon's Cat has some thoughts on the matter.
There is no "me time" with cats. They're firmly from the Occupy side of the campus. Unless they aren't feeling well. Then you have to find the little furballs and worry about them. Proud dad of Misty and Stripes, a.k.a. The Silver Bullets. Wandering Neurons
Peter, you have my sympathy! I positively hate cats - probably because I'm REALLY allergic to cat hair, but I hate the attitude: they are the epitome of selfishness and indolence. Always prefer a dog...
I realize I'm an evil cat cohabiter. If my cat tried to pull half the stuff Simon's cat pulls he would find himself in the kennel and/or the room with his litter box with the door closed until he could behave himself. I also have a squirt gun that I'm not afraid to use when the cat can't take 'No' for an answer. i.e my cat does not get on the table or the cabinets, doesn't use my furniture for a scratching post or me for that matter. Cats can be taught, just like dogs and everyone is miserable if they are not.

ReplyDeleteI get 20 minutes a night to write or read, and that is dependent on other mammals in the house not taking an interest in what I'm doing.
