A home invasion robbery in Chicago ended in what some (including yours truly) might consider an appropriate manner.
... two men approached the home in the 2400 block of West Eastwood, in Ravenswood just south of Lincoln Square, around 9:51 p.m., police said.
One of the men knocked on the front door. When the homeowner answered and didn’t recognize the man, he tried to shut the door but the man forced his way in to the vestibule of the home, Buslik said.
The intruder grabbed at a gold chain on the homeowner’s neck, Buslik said.
The homeowner called out to his adult son, who was upstairs, for help. When the son came downstairs a struggle ensued, Buslik said.
“The second offender, who was standing on the front porch, fired two shots into the home,” Buslik said.
Both bullets hit the gunman’s accomplice — in the head and shoulder.
The man, identified as 43-year-old Luis Antonio Morales, was pronounced dead at the scene, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said. He lived in Melrose Park.
There's more at the link.
A criminal shoots his own accomplice. Makes the police's job a lot easier, doesn't it? I'm sorry for the family of the deceased, but that's what any law-abiding citizen calls "asking for it". The shooter is still at large . . . but he may find it safer to surrender, in case his partner's family come looking for him. I've seen that happen before.

Good shoot!
ReplyDeleteA homicide detective I knew a few years back once commented to me that most murders were thug on thug. Of course in most of those they meant to shoot the other.
ReplyDeleteHome invasions are a cottage industry in Atlanta. Every morning, the news starts off with a litany of home invasions, car jackings, and shootings. The perpetrators are invariably Hispanics or blacks. The home invasions usually happen to people living in affluent neighbourhoods around ATL. Very few of them end on a positive note as this one did.
ReplyDeleteFor some unfathomable reason I am not overly concerned with the shooter's safety.
