Sunday morning music

Here's a recording I recently discovered that's given me a great deal of pleasure.  It's the Piano Concerto No. 3 in D Minor, Op. 30, by Sergei Rachmaninoff, which was premiered in 1909 in New York City.  The soloist in this 2016 live performance is the young Italian pianist Costanza Principe, with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana at the Politeama Theatre in Palermo conducted by György Ráth.  Sadly, there's no video as such in this clip, just the audio recording:  but it's a very good performance indeed, so much so that the lack of visual cues is not as important as it might otherwise be.

A lovely performance by all concerned.  Bravissimo!

  2. It was Rachmaninoff's Concerto number 2 that worked on Marilyn Monroe in The Seven Year Itch.

    Great music!
