Charles Rixey has written a wonderful COVID-19 parody of Simon and Garfunkel's song "The Sounds of Silence", set to the same rhythm and meter. I think it's inspired.
With new strains of COVID making their appearance, and the latest monkey-pox scare, I'm sure more verses will be added soon. I invite readers to submit their contributions in Comments below.

What is the 'next' pandemic they are going to trot out, and when? Election is in 5 months...
ReplyDeleteGood question. To me it looks like so many people have "disease fatigue" that no amount of hype would work, only a high death rate, which I hope they won't resort to.
DeleteI wouldn't be surprised by more shootings and foreign adventures, however, plus a large margin of cheat.
Saw your reference to S&G wanted to direct your attention to a cover of sound of silence https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdVjVtpr55M While you're on the tube site you may be forgiven if you check out their versions of Mary did you know, and their other Christmas songs
ReplyDeleteMore shootings no doubt. Foreign adventures? Aren't we in deep enough already with those sort of disasters? Cheat? Oh yes, they will try, they are indeed that dumb... but this time out, there will be LOTS and LOTS eyes and ears out there... watching and listening. And a lot of those eyes and ears just might be in the mood to mete out a bit of instant karma to the perps because of the grief they have already caused. Gonna be a fun time.
ReplyDeleteThe group would be a great choice to perform this. Their version of SoS https://youtu.be/u9Dg-g7t2l4
ReplyDeleteWell done, Mr. Rixey.
