Hayat Tahrir al-Sham has called for all Syrian refugees to return to that country and help rebuild it.
Sounds like an excellent idea to me, both for Syria and the many countries currently carrying the burden of millions of refugees from the conflict there. Sure, Syria's going to need aid to rebuild itself and recover from years of war, but if you look at what Syrian refugees are costing their host countries every year, that aid looks like a much more bearable burden. Furthermore, it'll be a great example to all the other alleged "refugees" who are refusing to even consider returning to their own countries of origin, because they prefer the softer, easier life in their host countries at the expense of those taxpayers.
Rebuild Syria and reduce the burden on other countries. What's not to like?

Hmm. Carrot and stick? Perhaps something along the lines of "If you return to Syria we will keep providing you your current level of benefits for 3 (to pick a number) years. If you remain here, they stop now as you are no longer a political refugee."
ReplyDeleteNot to be rude but I will be! You all seem to miss the fact that Syrian Druze, Christian, and other faiths will more than likely be in mortal danger in an islamic state. Just saying.
ReplyDelete"You are correct, Sir!" In my best Ed McMahon voice. Because, the victors are of the HEAD CHOPPER sect, so, that's kind of a problem for all other, non HEAD CHOPPERS. Other than that, KUMBAYA!
DeleteInteresting idea...

ReplyDeleteI just spoke to one of my Syrian Maronite friends, the son of an immigrant. He said, "From the way my father spoke of the old regime, just watch me run.
I'm an American; my sister's an American; neither of us married a Syrian and we're bringing up the kids as Americans. Period!"
The headchopper sect has its soldiers in our cities, living off our money. Arabs and especially the headchoppers lie, so nice idea and I support their repatriation, but I'll believe it when I see it. Oh, and we shouldn't pay them. Lock them up in shitty camps, only way out is to get on the one way plane home. Segregated camps, no breeding.

Since their asylum requests were based off of fear of the Assad regime, all such applications should be null and void. If they have cause to fear the current rulers, let them immediately re-apply with a new set of arguments. And sit in transit camps until a decision is made. Otherwise, no benefits and hit the road. There are too many "refugees" who believe in conquest and Caliphates. And realize some people will claim anything if they think it gets them a free ride in a tolerant pleasant society.
