Do they call the Coast Gourd if they get in trouble?

Looks like the annual Pumpkin Regatta in Oregon last weekend lived up to its reputation.

I wonder what they do with all the pumpkin "flesh" they cut out of the gourds in order to make room for a paddler?  Do they cook and eat it, or throw it away, or what?  I suspect there'd be enough seeds removed to be able to plant half the state with pumpkins!

  1. Livestock feed most likely

  2. Aside from the possibility of eating it, it's great to mash up and freeze. Dogs love it, and it improves their digestion (loosens bowels if they are constipated), and leaves them with a shiny coat.

  3. Coast Guard Auxiliary may have been on hand. They do Regatta missions where they keep other boaters out of the race/parade area. Typically, other EMS will be on hand to pull people out of the water although the Auxiliary trains to do that as well.

  4. I’m surprised the liberals in charge of Portland haven’t outlawed this because it’s cruel to the pumpkins or some such nonsense 😂

  5. Agree with Xoph. Talked to a Coastie in Hawaii who had been stationed up there. Lots of 'unusual' call outs.
