I fail to see the connection with vegetables . . .

News from Germany has me more than a little puzzled. The Local reports:

A Berlin sex shop has taken clear-conscience consumerism to an intimate new high, with organic, vegan sex aids.

"Other Nature", a women-orientated eco-friendly sex shop, offers organic lubricants, silicon vibrators, and whips recycled from old bike tyres as an alternative to mainstream sex shop wares.

. . .

... they all have one thing in common – nothing was created using animal products, nor was any ingredient tested on animals.

Because, unlike organic foods, there is no official framework for assessing intimate toys, the women check personally that everything they sell passes strict guidelines.

. . .

Now a vegan lifestyle can not only be expressed in the kitchen and bathroom – it can also reach into the bedroom.

There's more at the link, including a photograph of some of the items in question. Because I try to keep this place at least moderately family-friendly, I won't reproduce it here. There's also a video report about the sex shop, for those who are interested.

I'm afraid I utterly fail to see a connection between a vegetarian and/or vegan lifestyle on the one hand, and sex aids on the other. And what does 'organic' have to do with objects that are generally used to either stimulate, or substitute for, organs?

Perhaps carrots, cucumbers and zucchini have finally come out of the (kitchen) closet . . .

  2. You know, I really have to wonder about this.

Not the vegan aspect... I want to know what kind of sex toys ARE tested on animals. On second thought, no, I DON'T want to know.

  3. "Ask any vegetable and the chances are good ---
that the vegetable will respond to you."

    Now, name that tune!

  4. Aside from not testing the various lubricants on animals first to ensure they aren't harmful, I imagine the other major difference is NO LEATHER.
