Without 9/11, we wouldn't be in the mess we are today

Sundance describes "The Post 9/11 Weaponization of The U.S. Govt".

Barack Obama and Eric Holder did not create a weaponized DOJ and FBI; the institutions were already weaponized by the Patriot Act.  What Obama and Holder did was take the preexisting system and retool it, so the weapons of government only targeted one side of the political continuum.

. . .

(1) The Patriot Act turned the intel surveillance radar from foreign searches for terrorists to domestic searches for terrorists.

(2) Obama/Biden then redefined what is a “terrorist” to include their political opposition.

. . .

In the decades before 9/11/01 the intelligence apparatus intersected with government, influenced government, and undoubtedly controlled many institutions with it. The legislative oversight function was weak and growing weaker, but it still existed and could have been used to keep the IC in check. However, after the events of 9/11/01, the short-sighted legislative reactions opened the door to allow the surveillance state to weaponize against domestic enemies.

After the Patriot Act was triggered, not coincidentally only six weeks after 9/11, a slow and dangerous fuse was lit that ends with the intelligence apparatus being granted a massive amount of power.  Simultaneously the mission of the intelligence community now encompassed monitoring domestic threats as defined by the people who operate the surveillance system.

The problem with assembled power is always what happens when a Machiavellian network takes control over that power and begins the process to weaponize the tools for their own malicious benefit. That is exactly what the network of President Barack Obama did.

The Obama network took pre-assembled intelligence weapons (we should never have allowed to be created) and turned those weapons into political tools for his radical and fundamental change. The target was the essential fabric of our nation.

Ultimately, this corrupt political process gave power to create the Fourth Branch of Government, the Intelligence Branch. From that perspective the fundamental change was successful.

This is the scale of corrupt political compromise on both sides of the DC dynamic that we are up against.  Preserving this system is also what removing Donald Trump is all about….  The targeting of President Trump in order to preserve the system, the system that was weaponized during the Obama administration, is what the actions of the DOJ and FBI are all about.

There's much more at the link (it's a very long, detailed article).  Essential reading, IMHO.

In one sense, Osama bin Laden and his terrorists won a major victory on 9/11/2001 that is still ongoing.  Most of them are now dead, but the damage they did to the rule of law in this nation is still at work.

Sickening thought, isn't it?

  1. There is a large, and growing, number of people who feel that the intelligence agencies either planned it, or at the very least allowed it to happen in order to gain more power.

  2. Absolutely. Which is why I, as a conservative, opposed the Patriot Act from the beginning. Yes, the walls between the agencies needed to be torn down, or at least properly loopholed, but the wholesale Orwellian "Homeland Security" made me extremely uncomfortable from the beginning. And my fear was that it would be politically weaponized. And that's exactly what happened.

  3. The FBI has been weaponized since day 1. Hoover used the FBI as his personal hit squad during his entire tenure and the following directors didn't do anything to change that approach.

  4. The Patriot Act had been written long before the attack...they just needed an excuse to introduce it, pass it and use it. If the 9/11 attack hadn't happened something else would have that they would have used as the excuse. I don't believe that 9/11 was performed by gov agents. But I have little doubt they knew SOMETHING was in the works and didn't do a damn thing to prevent it.

  5. I agree with Dan.

I don't think 9/11 was orchestrated by the W. Administration; frankly, I don't think anyone in that group had the attention span to pull off something like that. But as Rahm once said, never let a good crisis go to waste.

  6. Ahh, how we long for the good old days, when terrorists would conveniently leave their 'terror manual' on the front seat of the hire car they used to get to the airport.

  7. So...I agree with previous posters....but, we have what we have right now. and all the Monday morning quarter backing isn't going to change anything. Not to be throwing shade on the folks that believe the "it was all planned" (because I believe that also).
So, how do we dismantle it?

Folks like Hannity, Bongino, and even a couple of red-necks here in central Texas; keep hammering and yammering about "the situation" we live in now.
Yes, yes, I understand that they are doing their jobs. The canary in the coal mine thing.
But, come on folks; aren't you getting tired of all of that? Can't we get someone to lay out a plan of attack (crap, wonder if my assigned secret agent will take that the wrong way)
What are we going to do about the society that has so definitely turned communist? What are our first steps? (quite honestly; I don't think it will involve any GOP congress critter)
Yeap, there it is. A cranky ol' mans scree. We are the ones that will turn this ship around. Not anyone in the rarified air of Wash. DC.

  8. I will believe things are changing when the local Sheriff in NM takes the Governor out of her office in handcuffs and the local DA books her on a no-bail charge of violating her oath of office to uphold the Constitution, pending her Impeachment by the Legislature.
