I note that a New Zealand firm, Williamswarn, is offering what it calls a "Personal Brewery" for use in the comfort of your own home. The company offers this promotional video.
The price of this technological wonder is a mere $4,400 or so in US currency, according to Noisecast. However, one can set up a basic home brewing kit, including ingredients, for a mere $200 or so; and a well-equipped home brewery can cost as little as $1,500. I can't help feeling that the "Personal Brewery" is designed to appeal to those who love technology more than beer! "Boys and their toys", indeed . . .

I'd rather drink the Nerd's beer :-)
They claim the selling point is that the beer made using their contraption dosn't need to be left to age before it is drinkable.
