Remembering October 7, 2023

It's become a cliché to speak of 10/7/2023 as "Israel's 9/11", but it remains true.  I don't think Israel, and Jews worldwide, will ever forget that day.  They should not - and we should remember and mourn with them.

Do not forget those who died.  Their memory should inspire us to ensure that their sacrifice was not in vain.

Terrorism remains one of the greatest evils in the world.  We won't succeed in eradicating it as long as there are those whose hatred for others exceeds their love for their own people and themselves.  Words will not eliminate the threat.  Only when we all remember - and apply - the Golden Rule will that be achieved.

"Do unto others what you would have them do unto you."

Hamas did precisely that.  So did Hezbollah.  So have Iranian proxies like the Houthi and others.

Israel has not forgotten, and will not forget.  We do not forget.

Peter

Sadly there is a large number of bloggers and commenters who have bought into the whole 'Jews are evil' thing.

But Oct 7th? Hamas and their allies definitely opened up a mega-jumbo sized can of FAFO.

More importantly, history wise, it's the anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto.

Jesus said, "Rebuke. If they repent, THEN forgive them"

No repentance, no forgiveness, per the Son of God.

islam is NOT a religion. It is a death cult.

I can call myself the King of Scotland, but that don't make it so.

Similarly, worshipping a 3rd century pagan idol or the pedophile "Prophet" that made up the death cult, does not make it a religion..

And Israel has already repaid the residents of the Gaza strip a hundredfold and more. And money that could have been sent to help people like my nephews and nieces in Boone NC and Appalachia was sent to Israel, to Ukraine, and Taiwan, and more. I cannot overstate how little of a rats posterior I have to spare for any of those places, or their troubles. As far as I'm concerned, the 7th of October is the anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto, and that's it. Judge me for it I'd you feel like it, it won't change my perspective.

And some of us just don't want anything to do with the "old" world. Nothing good comes of it, let foreigners fight foreigners. They are not our concern.

Do unto others as they do unto you. Good and hard.
