That hyperbolic trajectory of our national debt means that unless our government manages to halt, then reverse, its trajectory, it won't really matter who's in power, or which political party is in charge. The result will be the same: economic collapse.
That's what President Trump has to fix if any of his policies are to succeed.

Just like a drug addict needs to acknowledge that they have a problem:; so does the government need to acknowledge their spending addiction.
Fat chance
Anyone who can buy a company and fire 70% of the company can probably do nothing but help. People publish every years the millions in waste and the others in Congress just yawn. My favorite was the small shrimp on a tiny treadmill.
The financial apocalypse of the USA is still nigh.
It's no coincidence that the curve began skyrocketing right about the time Nixon totally and completely divorced the US Dollar from gold.
Supposedly, the reason Nixon took us off the gold standard was to allow him to sell off the stock of gold in Ft Knox to pay off the costs of the Vietnamese War. What makes sense of this is that NO Fed politician of any sort has EVER been allowed to tour Ft Knox since that time. They can look at the NY storage facility, but never Ft Knox. Explain the logic.
I've got news for you... that trajectory is not recoverable, and there's nothing in Ft. Knox but an IOU.
