I can only hope she was hauled away in handcuffs - after being hosed down so that the paint didn't get all over the police cruiser!
I've seen that same attitude in many so-called "porch pirate" videos. They blame the person who put out the booby-trapped package to catch thieves, but never themselves for stealing. I can only blame their upbringing, for never teaching them right from wrong. If I'd tried that as a kid, my parents would have laughed at me, then whaled my ass off for stealing, then taken me back to the scene of the crime to invite the residents to give me another whoopin' - just in case I hadn't got the message by then!
A tip o' the hat to the anonymous reader who sent me the link to that video clip.

yeah. like the old saying. if it not yours, leave it alone. I guess they don't teach that anymore?
the really sad part about getting old, close to 70
is that we remember a time when things where just better. i.e. shit like this didn't happen.
I blame soft on crime policies.
The loudmouth slob appears to be well into adulthood. She decided stealing is profitable. She's upset that this time she was caught.
It's gotta be an AI video. No jurisdiction shown on the police car, no signs that she moved at all from where she was when the package exploded, and while she appears to be dripping wet, she isn't splattering paint as she waves her arms.
That said, porch pirates should be tarred and feathered.
+1 AI
Her reasoning, "It's sitting out there on public property" is attitude that can never be overcome...other than a stint in jail, which may backfire and make her even more rabid that she was thew wronged party. Unreal.
I live in an area where porch pirates are a problem, so I got myself a post office box down at the local PO. Problem solved! And no more packages ruined by the rain!
Don't know about AI, but it's gotta be a comedy sketch. But so close to reality some places...
Yeah, how is it that these miscreants seem to think it's "my" fault when their actions get them smack in the face?
these days it seems that everything has become "public property"
"they" hang horse thieves", don't they
perhaps we might consider hanging "porch pirates": easy enough trap to set up - to hang them by their ankles - of course
Some places they are apparently treating "package bombs" as assault on the thieves trying to steal the packages.
Though it can be viewed from public property a front porch is not "public property". She is just another sociopath trying to get away with whatever pleases them.
The local county sheriff offers a drop address so you can have things sent there. They let you know when something has arrived, you come with a photo ID, and problem solved.
The video might be AI, but the would-be thief’s attitude is about right, alas. I’ve crossed paths with a few of that sort.
