Speedy stilettos?

I'm somewhat bemused to read of the Glamor Sprint race in Moscow. According to Reuters:

Wearing high heels is hard work, and running in them is an entirely different skill. But that didn't get in the way of Russian girls participating in the Glamour Sprint race, where 100,000 rubles (around $4,000) was up for grabs.

The race was organised by the fashion and beauty magazine Glamour. Girls had to wear shoes with a heel of at least nine centimetres.

Svetlana Martinova won the race with a stiletto sprinting speed of 15 seconds.

My only question is: why???

What's the point of sprinting in stilettos? What, precisely, are you trying to prove? I mean, it's not as if women wear the things to put on a burst of speed in their evening dress, is it?

Or is it, perhaps, training to catch up with prospective husbands fleeing the prospect?

I thought the idea of heels was that one wouldn't have to run to catch one's prey...
