Amazing to think of what it must have cost to bring all that water into the middle of a desert city . . . and still costs, to keep it flowing!

EDITED TO ADD: Reader C. M. sent me a link to a number of photographs of Dubai in the 1960's and 1970's, before it was developed to the extent shown in the video. Quite a contrast!

I lived there 2 years in the mid-80's and it looked nothing like it does now.
